I'm now starting to believe that its the battery meter in this device that is wonky. I believe that the meter was stuck at 0 the battery was ok and till the device registered a number higher that 30% it was not going to allow the update!

yesterday for some unknown reason the meter was jogged forward to 100% and it allowed the update to 3.3.0?

I have sideloaded 3.8.0 and have been reading a book for about 2 to 3 hours and the meter has not moved off 100%???

This Aura HD is one unstable device!

It is interesting. I was using an Apple iPad wall charger and the kobo threaded cord?

Depending on the iPad wall charger. The Apple unit is rated at 5.1V @ 2.1A but I've checked out several aftermarket ones that were over 5.5V with a ~1A load (I used a 5 ohm, 25W 2% resistor). This is getting well away from the 5.0V that the USB spec defined.

Regards,
David

The battery meter is, at best, flakey. My Aura HD tends to stick at 100% for the first week and then drop slowly to about 40% and nosedive after that. I've had it long enough with enough discharge charge cycles that the meter should have calibrated. If Apple, Google and Samsung with their resources can't get it right given the number of complaints about inaccurate battery displays on iOS and Android phones, I tend to regard the battery life indicator as a wild-eyed guess at the real battery level.

Regards,
David

This car I used to drive for the company I used to work at had the same issue but with the gasoline meter. When the tank was full the needle was at the top and tended to stay there abnormally long until it started dropping very fast. So I guess the moral of the story is, indicators of charge or quantity are just that: indicators and they are not to be taken as an exact measurement.

The battery....hmmmm.....

Turn wifi on and see, as it drains, if the battery is depleting.

It's so strange. The meter started working on its own! (finger crossed!)
