Out of curiosity, and because Lynx's post reminded me that for some reason I am not getting emails from Zinio anymore, I went to Zinio's U.S. site to see if any deals were going on.

What they have going on now is an "end of season sale" with "up to 50% off."

For those who are unaware, quite a few public libraries offer magazine access through Zinio. But the selection is quite small compared to Zinio's entire catalog. Still, if your library offers it and some of your favorites magazines are included, it'll save you the cost of a subscription or two.

I had forgotten all about that until I saw your post! Thanks for bringing that up--it might save me the cost of a couple of subscriptions when it comes time to renew.

And you're right--Zinio offers a HUGE number of magazines; I didn't realize how many until I was rummaging around the site a little while ago (I didn't even realize that so very many different magazines are being published now!). But, as you said, the selection is very limited, at least at the libraries that I have checked in the past. And, most of the magazines are the more popular ones (as it should be). So, if underwater basket-weaving is your thing, for example, you might be out of luck finding a magazine about it.

I would like to remind anyone who might be interested in viewing the magazine issues via the library to check with your library to see if they have "reciprocal agreements" with other libraries (they usually will be fairly close by). You can get library cards from those libraries and expand the selection of magazines that you can access, because those other libraries invariably will have magazines that your local library doesn't have.
