Amazon UK CS have confirmed to me by email that the PW2 now ships with 4GB (obviously that's valid for the UK, don't know about other countries). They're keeping very quiet about this and I've noticed that the Tech Specs on the UK page no longer give the size of the storage space

It comes along with new model numbers that NiLuJe has to add into the update.bin's, and I believe it also broke kindlets till fw v5.4.5 -- so people have been asking what's going on and it came out. |

Ordered a kindle paperwhite from amazon.ca, and delivered today. Device Info - Space Available: 3,213MB Free ![]() I elected to order one from amazon to get the latest stock, instead of picking up one from local retail stores as I could not verify how old the stock was. |

Earlier replies mention Paperwhite memory size in other countries, so here's my update.
I wanted a backlit e-ink display which my Nook Simple Touch e-reader lacked, so earlier this week I ordered my Kindle Paperwhite 2 from the U.S. Amazon site earlier this week. Ordered Mon Aug 4 2014, arrived Wed Aug 6. I have loaded 30 or so books onto it & "Device info" says there's 3.110 MB free. When I connect it to my PC the disk shows 3,420,xxx,xxx bytes or 3.18GB total. Last edited by Zapped; 08-07-2014 at 04:13 PM. |

I am waiting for the deliver of the HD Aura, but I also did a factory reset on my paperwhite. The reset took care of the freezing and slowness. All of my collection groups were able to download from cloud, however all my non-kindle books did not show. To solve this issue, I have begun the process of emailing my books to the kindle and putting them in the correct collection. So in the future if I have to factory reset, all the collections and books in the collections can be downloaded from the cloud.

I was very luck earlier this year and got a PW2 3G as a Warrenty replacement for another 3G model but mine is only 2GB storage. If the new one is 4GB I'll certainly get another then hubby can have mine.

Yes it has room for lots of books but all Kindles have always slowed down when you get too many books on them. I've also read in forums for other ereaders that they have that problem as well. I think your solution is to begin to think of the Paperwhite as a reading device and not as a mass storage device. I sold my old Kindle Keyboard to a neighbor who now has about 800 books on it. I usually kept 15 or 20 books on it. When she asks me to show her something on the Kindle I'm always amazed at how much slower it is than it was when I had it. It's not so slow that it's a problem but it's very noticeable. I have a friend with a KK just like it with about a hundred books on it and it's far faster. I keep my current book on my Kindle and a few books that I'm considering as my next book. That's it. And that's the real answer to your question, I think. Barry |
