Oh, no....that is terrible. We have all done stuff like that, I'm sure. But usually our screens live to tell about it. I hope you get a new one, soon! Maybe they'll give you a good deal on a refurb. Got mine in a lightning deal for $69. You might ask them if they have any of "those" left!

It'll probably cost you $50-$60 for a new screen if you can find one (1st gen PW screens run about $40 so I'm guessing the PW2 Carta screen will be more) and then it's a fair amount of work to replace... https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Kindle+...lacement/13043 |

I knew if anyone would be empathetic to my plight, it would be you guys, you're all the best. I took the easy road and bought one on sale at a local electronics store[only $20 off but better than nothing]. The cracks on my 'old' one don't show up that badly when I'm using no light on it, so I'll use that one during the day and the new one at night when I use the light. It made sense to me in my head when I was justifying it at the store! |

yep, pretty happy over here. ETA thanks also BuyMore And now, back ON topic [thanks for indulging my pity party!]. I posted the freebie of Kate McCarthy - Give Me Love last week [which I read and recommend]. It's still free, but another of hers, Fighting Redemption is on sale for $.99 It's a military romance and rated highly at GR 4.42 with almost 4000 ratings. blurb: Ryan Kendall is broken. He understands pain. He knows the hand of violence and the ache of loss. He knows what it means to fail those who need you. Being broken doesn’t stop him wanting the one thing he can’t have; Finlay Tanner. Her smile is sweet and her future bright. She’s the girl he grew up with, the girl he loves, the girl he protects from the world, and from himself. At nineteen, Ryan leaves to join the Australian Army. After years of training he becomes an elite SAS soldier and deploys to the Afghanistan war. His patrol undertakes the most dangerous missions a soldier can face. But no matter how far he runs, or how hard he fights, his need for Finlay won’t let go. Returning home after six years, one look is all it takes to know he can’t live without her. But sometimes love isn’t enough to heal what hurts. Sometimes people like him can’t be fixed, and sometimes people like Finlay deserve more than what’s left. This is a story about war and the cost of sacrifice. Where bonds are formed, and friendships found. Where those who are strong, fall hard. Where love is let go, heartache is born, and heroes are made. Where one man learns that the hardest fight of all, is the fight to save himself. This book is recommended for 18+ due to adult language and themes. Please note: K McCarthy is an Australian author and Australian spelling, language and slang has been used in this book. $.99 Call Series Boxset by Emma Hart Also at Kobo blurb: A limited-time boxset edition of the highly-addictive and sexy CALL SERIES, including a brand new bonus novella, HIS CALL, only available digitally in this box set. Also includes the prologue and first three chapters of WILD TEMPTATION, the first in an even sexier spin-off series. LATE CALL: She’s a high class call girl. He’s taking over his father’s business. Seven years ago, they fell in love in Paris. They walked away at the end of the summer, never imagining they’d meet again. Now he’s her client. We fell in love the way you jump from a cliff. Hard and fast with a reckless sense of abandon. The six weeks we spent together changed my life, but at seventeen, I was naive. I was a dreamer. A believer. Now I’m twenty-four and cynical. I don’t believe in love. There’s no place for such emotions as a high class escort. The only things I’m allowed to feel are physical – and that’s why it’s so damn hard when the client of a last minute job turns out to be the man I left in France seven years ago. When he buys me for six weeks at triple my rate, my agent makes it clear I have no choice but to take the job despite our previous relationship. And my heart makes it very clear I have to stay firmly on top of the cliff this time. Because for six weeks, I once again belong to Aaron Stone. FINAL CALL: We crashed and burned like a falling plane. Hard and fast with an inevitable explosion. Another few weeks together changed my life the way the first did. At twenty-four, I became naïve again. I became a dreamer again. A believer. And walking away hurts just as much as it did seven years ago. But over doesn’t have to mean over-at least in Aaron Stone’s mind. His pursuit is relentless, his determination unwavering. He’ll go to any lengths to keep me and prove that I belong to him. Unfortunately, love isn’t easy, and whether or not I forgive him is irrelevant to his past catching up with us. Once again, our relationship is haunted by a secret, one that could destroy everything, and the secret is born from the need to protect the other… But the tables have turned, because the secret is mine. HIS CALL: 20,000 words. Ten scenes. Seven you thought you knew. Three you never did... In this CALL series novella, get inside Aaron Stone's head for the very first time. Experience some of your favorite scenes from both Late Call and Final Call, and enjoy three new bonus scenes. |
