It's not actually a trilogy - it's just three books with the related theme of climate change. The three books are completely standalone novels.

I think you're thinking of Robinson's "Three Californias" books, which are standalone novels that depict three different possible futures for Orange County. The climate change novels are definitely a trilogy.
