I haven't seen anything on Kobo's pages but several other websites have said the Aura HD has 1GB of RAM.

Judging from the naming conventions of the u-boot files, it seems to be 512. But for an Aura HD owner it should be easy to find out. By the way, the Kobo Start Menu provides sort of a terminal for that kind of tasks.

Using tshering's terminal, the "free" command shows Total Memory as 512mb (the "top" command functions different than I remembered, at least it didn't work for me.)

He's asking about RAM, not flash memory used for storage (which IIRC is 4GB).

I just tried it. It doesn't make a difference with this wannabe terminal, at least none that is perceptible to the user. Maybe the performance is better, since top does not listen for user input with this switch, but this gain is hardly noticeable with one iteration.
