Using Calibre to read epub but NOT put in library
I'm working on organizing my "stuff" including additional materials that are not included in the library but in a parallel directory structure. Now I've run across a problem with reading the contents of that directory. .doc is OK because links in Calibre bring up Word. .pdf is OK because links in Calibre bring up a PDF reader. But epubs are not because Calibre automagically adds them to the library.
I like to make epubs if I want to read the information on a tablet. But if I open an epub on my desktop Calibre insists on adding it to my library. In the case of these additional files, I purposefully do NOT want them in my library because they are additional information for an epub already there (generally). I've looked through the settings and can't find any setting to turn off this automatic add when I only want to read. I want to add to Calibre ONLY by the Add Books action. Sorry, I tried to search but I couldn't think of any unique search terms that resulted in a solution for my problem. Thanks! Judy |

You could also Launch the viewer from The Start Menu: All Programs: calibre:ebook Viewer
and then use the viewer (open ebook icon) to browse the file system |

Got it! And done! I thought I would have to install another ebook reader to accomplish this. Thanks so much!
