Kobo 90% off first book
I've just setup my Kobo eReader, in the box, there is this "Welcome to Kobo, Up to 90% off your first book" brochure. The brochure said once I'm finish setting up Kobo eReader, I get an on-screen offer for this 90% off" my first book.

When I complete my setup, I didn't get this on-screen 90% off first book offer. I'm in Canada, did anyone from Canada get this 90% off first book or is this offer not available for Kobo customers in Canada?

I thought that the 90% off came as an email after the fact, but it's been a long time since I used that. Check the spam folder on your e-mail and you might find it there.

I think the code is offered via one of the introductions to Kobo on the device itself, and is only on a limited selection of books.

The 90% off first book is an onscreen device setup offer and is not the same as the discounts in the Kobo discount thread. See photo of brochure in post below.

The discounts in the Kobo discount thread is "useless" because the major publishers (Simon & Schuster, Random House, Penguin, Harper Collins, etc) all ends in a ".99" price which don't qualify for those discount codes.

This is the 90% first book off brochure. My question is did anyone in Canada gets the onscreen code when the setup is completed? I didn't and I am wondering if this 90% offer is applicable in Canada.

I would be surprised if the on-screen code works on books that refuse the other coupons. Either a book allows a discount or it doesn't. And by the way, I've just used the 90% discount or some from the thread on several Random House, Penguin and Harper Collins books. Give it a try
But I hope you'll find where your code has gone because that's surely frustrating to follow all the steps only to find oneself empty handed.

I just bought a few books using that 90% discount code. It works only on certain books and books that don't end with ".99".

I'm happy with the Kobo purchase, I have never been able to buy books for Kindle at a discount, what is frustrating about Amazon is some Kindle books are more expensive than the printed books at Amazon. Ebooks are pure profit since there is no costs associated the raw materials, manufacture/printing of the book, warehouse/storage costs of a physical book, shipping/retail costs. I would expect ebooks to be cheaper than printed books but it is not. Anyway, I'm glad I have decided to drop Kindle and switch to Kobo.

I don't think I will see that 90% off first book offer, maybe because I have already bought books from Kobo and maybe it is not available in Canada.

I agree, Lynx-lynx. I got quite a deal from the few 90% off books I bought. That's why I am happy with buying this Kobo device. The only difference is those few 90% off books I bought are not "popular" books (still good reads though), if they are, they would be priced as ".99" which would not work with the 90% discount code. Anyway, I am not complaining about not getting the 90% off first book, I am happy I got a deal from the other 90% off code.
