Guess they're not selling as well as they hoped for. Now they're enticing customers to get one of these tablets with a year-long payment plan.

I'm not sure that it is an indication that it isn't selling well, but if you have to put it on a payment plan you shouldn't buy it. Maybe people should look at the HD if they can't afford the HDX 8.9.

I don't doubt that could be motivation. If you can get people to buy one on payments now, it will count for this year sales even though most of the money will be collected next year.

If Google had offered this on the Nexus 10, I might have bought that instead of the Nook HD+. I wish Amazon would just do an Amazon Instant Video app for Android... They have one for Google TV.

If you're looking to get Android, then Amazon wants you to get a Fire; not the competition.

Yes, but I don't want Amazon's flavor of Android.

I'm NOT going to buy a Fire just to get Amazon Instant Video.

If I was in the market for a HDX as a Christmas present, I would have appreciated this offer. It's not credit card based which is good, but I'm sure they could send collectors after you if you didn't pay.

If it was an offer to put it on a credit card, I'd be totally against that. I dump my direct deposits straight to my card every month, but I pay the card in full every month too. You can't spend money you don't have with those things.

I would imagine that they would lock you out of your account if you didn't pay.

If you aren't living up to the terms of the contract, ie. not making your payments, then I wouldn't have any problem with Amazon doing that.

According to Nate at the-digital-reader.com, it's only good through Dec 24, and US residents only.

I did. Now that you can download prime videos, it is great for flights!
