Star Trek Novels?

I was in Waterstones a couple of days ago, and saw a whole row of Star Trek novles in the tie - in section of the F/Sci-fi section. I was wondering where I was meant to start? They were all published by Pocket Books, and I would appreciate it if the recommendations were from this range. Hope someone can help? Waylander |

I'm not a big Star Trek fan, but I've read some pretty good reviews on a couple of authors. A. C. Crispin and Timothy Zahn seem to put out books people like. |

Thanks to everyone. Afv011, your link was a great help, as it had a special section for getting started.

A.C. Crispin has written both Star Trek and Star Wars. Timothy Zahn is a Star Wars author. So that wasn't too bad of a mix up. |

Just looked at that guide, and what scared me most wasn't what was on the list, but everything they left out, as there are literally hundreds of books that are not on the list. Then again, I started reading Star Trek with the Bantam adaptations in the early 70's, so it's been a while. |

It's just a reminder of how big the Star Trek literary universe really is.

Don't be scared off by that flow chart. It's a great tool to guide you. Just pick an area that interests you and start there. There are no real rules. :-) Recent ones I've enjoyed: The Cold Equations Trilogy, The Destiny Trilogy, and the Vanguard series. |

I finally reached a point, probably after getting a couple hundred of the books that enough was enough. I think they were starting to branch out too much and I just didn't want to devote all my book budget to ST books each month.

I also recommend the Vanguard series, I'm on the next to last book and they are all very good and fast paced.
