second gen paperwhite in a first gen case?

Will the second generation paperwhite fit in a first gen case? I have an extra case, and I've just ordered the PW for my mom.

And in another thread someone confirmed that the PW1 case's ON/OFF functionality works with the PW2 as well. I think this is one of perhaps two occasions when a case for an older model worked with a newer model.

... and here is a 3rd opinion: PW2 fits great in PW1 case from googleproducts, with on/off magnets.

I'm fairly certain someone at Amazon lost their job due to this oversite....
