Sort problems (red in the title sort box in the editor) can be found using the Quality Check Plugin, usually allowing to allow a quick fix with Bulk edit |

If I come across negative: there are many reasons NOT to do what you try. Performance: if using a calculated field on large libraries data integrity(timeliness): If using a static field confusion, 'I edited the title sort' because edits don't post back to the real field |

After you create the column you may have to right click any column header and select Show column the select Title sort to see the column. Last edited by DoctorOhh; 09-22-2013 at 10:09 PM. |

Phlos,
If you are looking to create a unique sort order for your library you will have to do as DoctorOhh has suggested, which is to create a custom column or derived custom column to store the data. What theducks was talking about might not have been clear. You mentioned columns title and title_sort - which already exist in the calibre database and are reserved column names. So your request to create a "title sort" looks like you want to simply change the way calibre handles sorting. To change the existing title_sort function there are a few tweaks under Preferences>Tweaks that can be changed. This includes whether or not Articles of Speech (A, The, An, etc) appearing at the beginning of a book title is used or ignored for the purpose of displaying books in order in the main book view. Another tweak allows you to specify user language and that language's equivalents to the Articles of Speach. Or you can add completely new words to the Articles listing. There are others as well. Perhaps we've misunderstood what you wanted to accomplish with your request to add a "title sort"? In that case, post a few of the problem books. Give us the correct title and the incorrect title so that we can see what is wrong and recommend how it can be fixed. Last edited by Sabardeyn; 09-23-2013 at 03:18 AM. |

Despite what has been stated there is no Title Sort column in calibre. If he wants a column called "Title Sort" great! Why? Who the heck cares? For the life of me I just don't understand trying to psychoanalyze a simple request for assistance. If the answer ends up not being exactly what the OP wants I'm sure he will come back for additional assistance in a new thread. Last edited by DoctorOhh; 09-23-2013 at 04:45 AM. |

I read Phlois' request and interpreted it to mean that (s)he might have wanted a custom sorting scheme. However, with limited comments it was difficult to tell for sure. Further comments from Phlois will make the issue clear, if needed.
