				Annotating editions?

Is there a way to annotate the edition of an ebook somewhere in its metadata?

That is not what metadata is for. You could use endnotes for this...

Endnotes? At the moment the "Second Edition" remark is on the copyright page, so the reader of the book sees it.

I was just wondering if there is a way to indicate that kind of information in a different, more accessible and explicit way so that tools (or web stores) can have access to it. Like they can read the author or title from metadata. |

As far as I know, there is no proper metadata field for the edition. You could use the dc:date with some specific "event" attribute, or dc:description.

Regardless of what you do, tools, stores etc. are unlikely to make any use of it. Metadata support out there is usually very poor, often limited to title, author and publisher (and in their simplest forms). |

Thanks for that, Toxaris and Jellby. Either of the two proposals sounds good, I'll think about it

Good to know though that I didn't miss some explicit/better way of handling edition information of a book.
