a) Because it's pretty. I have the same decal on my K3, which my dad is inheriting, and I'm going to miss it.
b) Because I prefer how the decal feels compared to the fabric lining of the inside cover. I saw some pics on kboards where the posters had stuck the back decal to the inside of the cover, and I thought it looked wonderful.

The persimmon just arrived. Now when the PW2 arrives I need to convince my wife that she deserves the newer, more vibrant cover so that I can snag the black cover that's on the PW1.
(We need 2 different colored covers to avoid confusion)

Sooo... wait until the cover arrives, get all excited and show her how nice the new cover is that YOU got for YOURSELF . Then sit back and just let you be persuaded by her to switch. She'll try. If you resist a bit, she might even use nice means . She'll win (surprise !). Or she'll think she won. And she'll be super happy nice for a week, at least .
