Actually i went to my local barnes and noble today and checked out the glo again. The last time i went there all of them had the light tears. Today they did not. plus the light just looked better to me than last time. Perhaps your reburhised will look as good. I kinda wished i would have grabbed one now.

Let's not imply the Kobo is bigger than it is. It is listed at 6.91 which is smaller than a 7". That's still in the small category, but bigger than the 6". Here is a comparison:

I had a Kindle DX which was 9.7, and that was too big. I do think around the 7" size is the sweet spot, and I don't want to go much smaller than that. Personally I find the Aura HD to be small and very light compared to my 7" Android tablet.

Also I find the higher pixel density an advantage when choosing lighter fonts.

It depends, I'll update everyone when I travel back to Japan next year.

I'll look at the Aura when it comes out, since my Aura HD bit the bullet. Sad thing is though, I'm not too enthusiastic about eInk at the moment because the only one that I've owned that stood up to day-to-day use was the Kobo Touch. So I'm thinking that I should wait until the flexible screens (i.e. the ones with a plastic substraight) are available.

Since I do a lot of reading outdoors, that means it's back to printed books.

The Arc 7.

Can't understand the 7. I'd settle for those specs if the tab had other attractions: super lightweight, e.g., but it's as heavy as the original Arc, and has only a single speaker which does not seem to be mounted on the front.

The Aura.

I was briefly excited, then the word "fingerprints" came to mind. I like the size, I like that it's lighter than the Glo, and I like that they've improved on e-ink refresh artifacts. Not so confident about reading-outside bit. The surface doesn't seem to be an improvement over the Glo.

The Arc7HD.

_Lighter_ than the Arc7, but still piggy at 340g. Mono speaker, probably in rear. I got one of the $129 Nook HDs, so when I really want a tablet with rear speakers, I'm covered.

Think I'll probably pass on all of 'em unless the Aura is more exciting in person than in print.

That new Kobo Aura looks gorgeous. It actually makes me regret getting the Aura HD. Why? I love the idea of a screen with no (or extremely slight) raised bezel, I like the fact that the plastic on the back isn't slippery and I love the fact that they've managed to keep the screen at the same size and yet made the Aura a LOT smaller than the Paperwhite. I know my Aura HD is HD and all that but what good does it do me? All it does is make the pictures and tables look so small that I can't even see what it's supposed to mean. Useless.

Well, I have to say that the covereage from good ereader was disappointing. First of all it was anything but live on the webpage (engadget does great live covereage when they do it) and the fact that they posted "reviews" and "hands ons" which were little more than the press releases (they themselves called them previews in the article but the headline kept on saying review or hands on¨, though thankfully they later did add a little bit of their personal impressions.

As for the actual products... The Arc 10HD is tempting but I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 and for me the active digitizer/stylus is a must for a tablet as it increases productiviity and lets me use it to study, read texts and take notes but if it wasn't for that (and that my current tablet is less than a year old) I'd totally pull the trigger. The Arc 7HD is tempting but more for the software (theh Nexus 7 version 2 has a much better processor).

But let's talk about the Aura. I think the name could be misleading for some as it has a smaller PPI than the Aura HD since the distinguishing features of the Aura HD are the size and the resolution yet this has neither (but then again it drops the HD from the name). But still, my Glo died (seems the substrate cracked but as I am in Mexico there's no point in sending it for repairs unless I was sure it could be fixed under warranty due to the shipping costs).

But here are the things that interest me about it.
The new eInk screen tech.
The increased memory (and I think it also has increased RAM).
The new screen and size. Although I like how the Glo didn't have a glass screen since it completely avoids glare the screen responsiveness kinda sucked at times plus I had to make sure the gap under the bezel stayed clean to make sure it worked properly (lint and crumbs would get stuck there, what can I say, I put it in my bags, pockets and like to read while eating...). The glass screen is also a nice thing since it should protect the lighting layer. Also the fact that it is matte should help with glare.
Also I read that there will be new features thanks to the new screen tech like pinch to zoom or swiping up with two fingers to increase thebrightness of the light or swiping down with to fingers to decrease it.
The bigger battery. I know it isn't part of the press release but in the leaks they mentioned that it is 50% larger than the Glo's.
The size. I would love the Aura HD to read at home but I read outside quite a bit and on the bus and so on so I like something I can fit in my hand (so I can have a death grip and not drop it when the bus hits a pot hole). And I honestly can't justify buying two devices with so many other expenses waiting in the wings. Hell, I can barely justify this one and only because the Glo died. Yes, I would prefer the plastic substrate ereaders but as my choices are an ereader or killing the battery on my phone by turning the brightness up to max in order to read in direct sunlight, the ereader wins. Plus, I love the planned pocket integration. I never use pocket but more than once I have wished for an easy way to save internet articles and trasnfer them to my ereader for easy erading later on...

Now it's just a matter of roping a friend into buying it, and sending it to me (and figuring out which method he prefers to send him the money).
