Decimal "Rating" column (Custom) and Stars

			Greetings,

I searched the forum looking for the possibility of a decimal "Rating" column. There are only a few posts - all seemingly to want to add on-line ratings to their collection. This is NOT what I want. I only want to have the Rating Stars and a decimal number and input my own ratings on the books. If this is possible, I need some help to implement it, as I'm very new to calibre and ebooks. Calibre is a fantastic piece of software, so I'm surprised this isn't a standard feature (although I could be missing it??) Thx in advance. |

To stop ratings being downloaded - see attachment

Then you can can enter a number 1-5 in the Rating field in metadata edit. Or in the list, make the Rating cell current for book in question, Press F2 and enter 1-5. If you want half stars or some such then you'll have to create a custom column and use Custom Icons - I haven't done it so I'll leave that to someone else, I'm pretty sure others have done that sort of thing. There's a Custom Icons tab in Preferences-Look & Feel BR |

If you prefer decimal then you can create your own column by going to Preferences - Add your own colums and click on the green plus sign. Now you can choose Rating and change the Column type to Integers then click OK and restart calibre. |

I've managed to get a custom column up and happening, so that is good. Still surprised this isn't a standard option. There is too big a gap between say 3 and 4 stars (and the rest). All the sites/software I use have a decimal star rating. Don't want to sound too critical. It is free and a fantastic piece of kit.Do you know how to make the custom column report a value out of 5? Say...4.2/5?? I'd like the "/5" part to be automatic. Again, appreciate the help. Cheers. |

Yes. Delete the column you just created and create a custom column (same steps as before) but pick floating point instead of integer. Then type {0:.1f}/5 in the box before clicking OK.

Moderator Notice I'm trying to get finer decimal ratings (for half star or finer ratings like 4.5, 4.9, etc), too, but I'm not clear on the instructions for how to do this so far. I've made a column called ratings and set it to floating point as described. But then what? I just have an empty column now, how do I get the data from the ratings column into the decimal column? Where is the decimal rating behind the graphical stars located? Is there actual decimal data with the built in metadata download or do I need some plugin to actually grab the raw ratings again from Amazon?
