That is one approach, but it may not be the desired approach Once you start littering the interface with options, a subset of users will be driven away because of the increased complexity of the device. And yes, this is a realistic issue given how a number of people are modifying ebooks in order to reflect their different aspects of how ebooks are formatted as well as the number of people who desire random features like file browsers or a different home screen (etc.).

As someone else pointed out, swipe does work. You just can't tap. It took me some trial and error (I'm a tapping kinda gal) to figure out the sweet spot for always having my swipes recognized. It turned out to be at the very bottom of the page. YMMV.

Nope, makes no difference in this case. I'll hang a few examples off the bug. Last edited by mbovenka; 07-24-2013 at 01:46 PM. Reason: Checked setting

Well then, I like the update. A thumb swipe at the top works for me.

Does this release do anything for the tap zones? All I really want is the ability to have a tap on either side do a page forward and a sort by series.

 Calibre and firmware 2.8.1

If Calibre cannot send the meta data to the device... is it still ok to send kepubs to the Kobo device? Or is there a potential for problems? regards Jack |

You can set the tap zones in "reading settings". Sort by series isn't included in this FW update.

Since 99.9% of the time I want to tap forward, I would love an option that made it easier to tap forward and harder to go backwards. A tap-anywhere-except-the-menu-spot to go forwards and drag to go backwards would be perfect. A tap on the bottom 2/3 of the screen to go forwards and a little strip on the top to go backwards would be nice as well.

. I have a similar taming-specific issue: I would like the settings menu at the top to only be invoked from the middle of the top (like the reading settings is only invoked from the middle of the bottom). I keep tapping it open by mistake. The best you are likely to get is the setting that gives you a very wider forward zone and a narrow back zone. I use that, btw.

Yeah, that's the best option at the moment. If we're talking wish lists I wish they'd narrow the back zone down to something similar to how it is on the Kindle's so it'd be easy to reach over it with my thumb without misjudging (often). Or maybe if they'd give something similar to the various options Moon+ gives for zones.

I will admit i'd also love the top / bottom page turn option. I kitchen change how I'm holding the Kobo and have to readjust the page turn option

If the answer to these questions is yes for most people, then this isn't a kaufman-specific issue. If not, then perhaps you are correct.

I can turn the page in either direction from anywhere on the screen by using a very small swipe motion. The swipe only has to be about 10-15mm long in the appropriate direction to cause the page to turn.
