Quality Writing on Woot!

It's my contention that some of the best short fiction writing is on woot.com. Today's special is a 65" TV, with the caption "James Madison will display actual size". I can think of no better criteria for choosing a TV than that. |

I wasn't aware that President Madison did all that much television work. In fact, wasn't he pretty much a thoroughly rotted corpse by the time the TV was invented??

I am waiting for a TV that Abe Lincoln could fit in.

And what, precisely, respect is that? I'm curious because of the clause "they're due". Is there some intrinsic respect-worthy facet of shortness?

The tagline "James Madison will display actual size" in light of "He was also the shortest US President." was a bit of a diss, IMHO. Taylor, no intrinsic respect-worthy, other than to bring sub-par (pun intended) thinking/attitudes up to a norm ("they're due") awarded everyone.

Got it - I was being light-hearted, of course. I imagine a Staff Writer at Woot! having that bit of trivia in his mind for years, until a TV came along the right size, and finally, finally, the knowledge was put to practical use. It gives hope to mental packrats everywhere. |

Oh, the wiki on James Madison also said he was the lightest President. Now that's not skin color they're talking about, is it?

Nah, I doubt it. Of course, he was only Pres. No. 4 when he made that statement, so there wouldn't have been much to compare to as far as height, weight or skin color. I know T. Jefferson was very tall, and G. Washington was more than average height. I think Mr. Adams was on the shortish side, but clearly Mr. Madison must have been shorter. |

If you got that TV & James Madison failed to appear on it (actual size or not), could you get your money back? |
