Hi, I have created a small test epub file with page numbers (i.e. page-map.xml). The numbers display fine in ADE, but I getting the below validation error. ERROR: Law.epub/OEBPS/content.opf(61,35): attribute "page-map" not allowed here; expected attribute "id". The corresponding line in content.opf is: <spine page-map="map" toc="ncx"> and map has been defined in content.opf as: <item id="map" href="page-map.xml" media-type="application/oebps-page-map+xml"/> Anyone help me to resolve this issue. |

That's normal AFAIK. Page-map is not part of the epub specifications, which is why epubcheck barks about it.

It will most probably not prevent the epub working in any device, but the page numbers will only be available in Adobe-powered readers.
