A Question about Amazon Gift Cards

I want to give a Kindle gift card to someone but there are two hitches: I don't have the person's email address and I don't want to disclose my own email address (i.e. the one tied to my Amazon account). Will the person be able to redeem the card if I buy it the usual way and just give them the claim code?

I buy gift cards for Amazon from the local grocery store (to get $$ off on the price of gas)

All I do on the Amazon site is key in the gift card number. It doesn't ask for any kind of email address (although, naturally I'm logged in when I enter it, so it knows who *I* am).

You're welcome. I hope it works without any problems. Although my father tends to load me up on gift cards at Christmas, I only started buying them for myself - and only for retailers I *know* I'll shop at - when gas prices started going up.

I really like not having all those little ebook charges from B&N.com on my credit card (since I have to enter them all separately into my Money program to balance the account).

I do that for my Kindle account always, and I used to do the same with Kobo till they put their gifting function on hold. It's been so annoying tracking the little charges on my credit card since then!

Yes. I accidentally bought a gift card using one of my own email accounts and had no trouble redeeming it with only the code to my husband's Amazon account.

Although, I don't think that the email contains the giver's email address, just Amazon's, and the name, if you put one in the form when you purchased the gift card.

I need a gift card for Google Play, then, because I've got that linked to one of those debit accounts that automatically deducts a dollar with every purchase and transfers it over to a savings account, with the result now that I am saving like a fiend with all those 99 cent purchases.
