Just last night I received a call about meeting a group of writers and artists for a drink later this afternoon. Because of the Independence Day crush (and crowds of strangers everywhere demanding that one drink to the unknown bride), we agreed to postpone the get-together until next weekend.

These are mostly older people with no product to push but mutual involvement, and everything to discuss in terms of ongoing projects, lit theory, literature and painting (my grillfiend will be there, as will a painter we both admire). This happens to be taking place in NYC, but I maintain that there are fascinating people to know in virtually every town in every place in the world. The hard part used to be finding them, but now we've got the internet to assist. There are also many ways to read the title of this thread. I choose to read it this way: Where are the great salons today for thinkers and creators (a few of whom might be great themselves)? Last edited by Prestidigitweeze; 07-06-2013 at 02:42 PM. |
