Kobo Firmware 2.6.1 and desktop 3.2.3 will be released shortly.

Notable features in this release:
- Updated Glo/Aura Home screens. Kobo Glo can now benefit from the new Aura home screen.
- More noticeable alert when battery is running low.
- Updated StoreFront:
- Reading lists are now more easily accessible.
- New design for StoreFront including saving browsing history.
- Various bug fixes and performance improvements.

As always the update will be rolled out gradually.

hmm...after synching and getting the new fw, mine keeps freezing on the 4th square of the happyface screen that comes up while turning on....guess it's time to try a soft reset...

ok, the only way I could get it to turn on was to take out the SD card and then use the pinhole reset. so I think that qualifies as the first 2.6.1 bug

It sounds like at least some user feedback was taken into account (the more noticeable battery alert), which is good. Is the book title still constantly visible while reading epubs?

Which version are you upgrading from? After the soft-reset did the update apply correctly?

I was upgrading from 2.5.2

It wouldn't apply correctly until I removed my external SD card, then did the soft reset. Then it applied perfectly. Then I put in my SD card and it froze for a very short time, maybe 30 seconds (no message regarding SD card), and then went back to functioning normally, with the SD card's books showing.

Edit: actually, it might have worked on a soft reset if I'd waited 3 or 4 minutes. After the first very long freeze, I was less patient on the soft resets. but the first one I waited quite a long time before trying anything.

However I think there may be an issue when starting up from off, that it treats the SD card as new books every time ...I've described it in post #14 below.

2.6.1 Bug
Now my glo is behaving like I'm adding all the books on my SD card every time I power off and on. Without removing the SD card. Not just that it freezes on startup at the third tile of the happyface screen for 3 or so minutes, but it also shows a tile "238 new books added" each time.
