Ummm, there may have been a reason why the manufacturer put a 1 amp fuse in there. I'd be careful about casually putting a 2 amp fuse in it.

Just saying.

They claim it will "trickle charge" which is pretty consistent with what we've seen. However I don't recall them being explicit about the fact that you must power the device off to do it.

Where do they say this? I have looked and couldn't find it. I'd be interested in the exact quote. Not being argumentative, I have large collections of cut-and-pasted info like this that I refer to.

I'd never noticed it before myself but here it is.

Kindle User Guide - page 17 on your computer screen

Quote:
USB port — plug in the included USB cable to transfer content between your computer and your Kindle. Your Kindle will also accept a small trickle charge over USB that may extend your battery life if your computer's USB port or powered USB hub provides power.

The Kindle charger is rated for 2 amps at 5 volts. Seems like a 2 A fuse would be OK.

She said she was using a shaver adapter with a 1 amp fuse. Since I don't know what kind of specific adapter that is (active, passive, etc.), I don't know that putting a higher rated fuse in it wouldn't lead to damage of the adapter.

If the fuse is to protect the shaver, that's one thing, but if it is to protect the shaver and the adapter, that's another.

You're right. The original device used by the adaptor (or the adaptor itself) could be damaged by too high a fuse value allowing excess current to be drawn. I was focused on protecting the Kindle charger- my bad.

shaving adaptors or i should say adaptor plugs in the uk are really only devices so you can go from three pin to two pin rather like thoes travel adaptors amps voltages and the like dont come into it. if you have a shaving adaptor connected permanantly to the mains then you usually have a choice of what voltage you want
