Significant update to Apprentice Alf's tools

I've just seen that ‘Apprentice Alf’ has updated the ebook DRM removal tools he maintains. It seems to be a significant update in terms of ease of use, especially for calibre users. I think that's about as much detail as I can go into on MobileRead. I also may not provide a direct link to Apprentice Alf's blog (and nor should anyone else, please). But in this kind of situation, Google is your friend. |

Do you know when this update took place? I just put Calibre on my 'new' laptop (my daughter's extra that is about 4 years old), that I've been using for six months, and just used Alf to add some extra functionality for planned storage of books I want to keep. I'm thinking the whole process was easier than last time, but it was easy then, too. I think I must have had the updated version. That was so idiot proof that I only messed up once. LOL (before I read the directions through)

Thanks for the info. I'll look it up when I get home. Figures it would be just a couple of days after I installed it.

There's really no need to upgrade. There's no new functionality - it's just a change in "packaging".

Am I right in thinking the big change is in the Calibre plugin rather than the tools themselves? I don't use the plugin but I have customised the tools and would have to re-do that if I upgraded.

Yep it would have to have been today. I was poking round there just two nights back and it was the previous set of tools then. I thought he had retired though.

Yes, he retired. But apparently decided to un-retire last June. Hmm... that thread title probably could do with updating... luckily, I'm a moderator. | |

I thought he had turned the page over to others so that it would continue to be updated.
