The click links have only been up less than a month and I would think this deal was a while in the making. They must have been getting requests for a while.

The kindle links may have been up for only a month, but I seem to recall seeing the more general "ebook request" links for quite some time before that. (Then again, my memory these days is like... a whatchamacallit... what were we talking about again?)

I am not sure. All I know is they said his book was one of the most requested.

Accordingly to the most of Fantasy forums are am following, Terry's books are the most hated fantasy books...

Zedd, when I made my post there was no indication that the exclusivity was temporary. Nobody who reported on the news of WFR being made an exclusive eBook at Amazon said anything that is was not permanent. News such as this needs to be properly reported with all the pertinent facts available. I think most people thought (myself included) that the deal was permanent.

Will WFR be released in all the other eBook formats such as MS Reader, BBeB, Mobipocket, eReader, ePub once the contract is up? Will the rest of the series be out as eBooks any time soon in multiple formats?

Even if it was permanent, who cares.

Video games go exclusive for certain platforms. People do not call for mass boycotts.

Will they be available for other readers? I can not answer that, All I can answer is the exclusivity deal is temporary.

Also, instead of flying off the handle as most people here seem to think you did. You could have waited. I did say I was going to speak with Terry and get an asnwer. Instead of waiting you went on your little crusade.

Also your lack of knowledge does not jsut extend to the length of this exclusivity deal. You constatnyl question why the man would do it, when you have no idea why or what was going on behind the scenes. He had many great reasons for doing it this way. you'd rather get on your high horse and call for a boycott.

lol, I will let the fact that with the exception of Jordan. He outsells every fantasy author out there speak for itself.

Terry is hated by a very vocal minority. Also people who like something do not go on the internet and say how much they loved someting at the same rate people seem to like to go on and say they hate something.

There is just something about being hidden behind a conputer that makes people want to spew forth hate.

Also, I have been running Terry's official website for over a decade. I have been to numerous signings and events. TErry is loved by his fans and he appreciated all of them as well.

Thanks Zedd for the info. Years ago I tried to read one of Terry's books but I was new to fantasy and didn't understand the importance of starting with book 1! I downloaded WFR on my kindle and plan to start it soon. My husband has always like that sort of philosophy so I think I will get him a paperback copy to read also (he is in the computer field but not really into the whole ebook thing). Very cool about a tv show. Will it be on Scifi channel or something like HBO?

Actually, they do.

For PC games, "people" is a minority (*nix and Mac OS) and the common solution is a dual-boot system (either pirated or OEM). This is why you didn't hear anything about this.

For consoles, there are/used to be hardware incompatibilities but there are also trademark titles (Mario for Nitendo, Sonic for SEGA, etc).

For eBooks, there are no "trademark titles" and there are no hardware incompatibilities. There is only the artificial vendor lock-in that you cannot circumvent as you can in the PC world via a dual-boot system. In most cases, you cannot even take the console approach: The Kindle and the Sony PRS are only available in the US.

Basically, it's the worst of both worlds.

Unless you are exceptionally agitated, good or bad, you will not simply start posting on the web. The people you refer to are the vocal minority. If they like the book, they will say so. If they hate the book, they will say so.

People not part of the vocal minority will typically just suck it up. If the point comes up somewhere in a discussion, they will mention it but they will typically not go out of their way to bash an author. Same for people that really liked a book.

As for myself, I do not hate Terry but I am very disappointed/frustrated with the series ending. The first couple of books were very nice but then the series degenerated. Confessor, especially the ending, was just too much preaching (I take it you get the reference).

it is a syndicated show. it will be on channel sliek the CW and the like.

Sounds interesting? Can you give us an more info or point to more? Is this TV show based on the Sword of Truth universe or is it something new? I assume it is an Fantasy genre show?

Oh nice thanks. Coming this year. Just my comments on the trailer...

If this is supposed to be Richard and Kahlan... Richard is much younger than I always pictured him in my minds eye and Kahlan is no where near as HOT as I pictured... I expected her also to have much longer and thicker shiny raven hair!

Richard was in his early 20's when the books started, so he looks the right age.

And no one coul dbe as hot as Kahlan is described. Still looks great IMHO.
