LOL, pointless post, but we're going to see Pratchett on Saturday as part of the book festival and I want to take a pbook along in case he's signing, but am totally conflicted. Have narrowed it down to Carpe Jugulum, Maskerade or Soul Music which are about my favourites (Hogfather is too, but it's just, like, waaaay too commercial now ) "He looks a bit elvish to me" LOLOLOLOLOL |

Mindy, way cool! Tough call on those three books. I suppose you could bring all 3 and ask him which he'd rather sign. If you were bringing Thief of Time, I'd also suggest bringing along a small box of extra-fancy chocolates, but I suppose that wouldn't make sense in context. Maybe wear a "Music with Rocks In" T-Shirt? One plain shirt plus a bit of fabric paint should do the trick. |

I was going to ask you to tell him "hi" from me, too, but he certainly won't remember me, given that we've never met. Well, at least, I think that would mean he wouldn't remember me. Perhaps I am not allowing for his greatness. |

Tell him the Chairman of the Board of Montsnmags Enterprises owes him a Zany Carter Deluxe. Cheers, Marc (...and watch his eyes go all "fight-or-flight") PS. Super-jealous, I am, Mindy, but in a most pleasant and anticipatory way. |

Decided on Carpe Jugulum in the end and OH took Guards, Guards. When I was getting it signed I paraphrased and said that everyone at the MobileRead Forums said 'hi', and he was vaguely interested enough to ask what that was. I summarised, and also said we'd love it if all his works appeared as ebooks, and he said he thought 'they were working on it'. The talk was really good too, he's reassurringly funny in real life and was mainly talking about the newly released Nation, which is non-Discworld. He even sang He also told us about the Discworld in progress which is about Spoiler:

I understand he often tells the story of getting around to writing Good Omens as an excuse for him and Neil Gaimen to use their brand new computers and net connections :-). Still, it would definitely be great if he came here, and it can only be good news for e-books, if more well know authors get behind it. Now I'm torn between whether or not to wish that a e-book edition of Nation is available on launch, as I Want to get the Hard back, but want the convenience of the e-book | |

I've got a question for all you Pratchett readers out there. How does your device handle footnotes? After all, the footnotes are some of the best stuff in his books, so I'm curious how each device handles them.
