I'm a bit late replying here, but I wanted to say it is a real shame. Fictionwise had been going down for some time now, and my latest purchase was perhaps 3 or 4 years ago, but this was the website where I started getting my very first ebooks on my PRS-500 back in the days. They were pioneers and deserved a lot better than what they got in the end. I'm sure they made some money when the site went over to Barnes & Nobles, but they should be number 1 in the ebook business today considering the head start they had...

17 out of 968 have transferred for me. I really enjoyed Fictionwise back in the day. Glad I backed up everything years ago. I was hoping some of the DRMed books would transfer, as when I converted many of them to epub from ereader format, they required a lot of tweaking to look good on a larger (than my Palm TX) screen and maybe the new one from B&N would look better.

I called B&N Customer Service today because I also haven't received the promised second email (clicked the button a week ago today). The nice lady on the Customer Service line said they are experiencing "delays" and that I should "wait another week." When I pointed out that there was a limited time to get this accomplished and that my measly 113 books represented a large investment to me, she told me there was still "plenty of time" since the books are still accessible until 12/21 ... Yeah, right, tell that to the Mayans! Fortunately, I have them all backed up. Like just about everyone else here, I would just like to avoid having to Apprentice Alf them using the ereader tools (not as easy as the ePub tools) and then convert and clean up the text. Much better to have the convert/clean up done by the vendor. |

My retooled pdbs were mostly okay, except for the popup (as opposed to the inline) TOC, which was a lot of random noise. Did you ever figure that out?

Basically told me eReader.com had no direct customer service number (I called B&N at 855-654-9332) and to email support@ereader.com. If I didn't receive a response in 24 hours I should call back and they'll escalate the case somehow. Meh. I hope I didn't miss it in a spam folder back around the 16th.

I tried my link again today and this time I made it to the confirmation screen that says they will send me a link the week of November 19. |

Still waiting for the *first* email. A phone call to B&N yielded no help. Thankfully, I have all my books (over 3000 from Fictionwise and over 200 from eReader - I've read most) downloaded, stripped, converted and backed up. (I do the same with the Amazon books, too.)

I never got the original email. I wrote to Customer Service saying so, asking for one. No response still on that one. Someone gave me their link and I just substituted my own email addy for theirs. Got to the B&N page where you click "agree" and then submit. Then got the notice to wait for an email during the week of the 19th. No email that week. Got an email with the code this morning. I enter the code but the system says it can't find it. So did a 'live chat' which I doubt is actually live, but just a suggestion to go to the FAQ. Then got quoted what looks like the FAQ info to call Customer Service. So called Customer Service, got cut off somehow on the call. Called again. They say they're aware of some 'small issues' and I should get another code in 1-2 weeks. I point out the deadline, but she seemed to think that was still plenty of time. I did mention I expected that Fictionwise customers would not be penalized on time because they're having 'issues'. She noted that she put down in my account notes that I did call on this date. I really doubt they're telling Customer Service anything, so they're just winging it. Nice lady on the phone, so I didn't give her a hard time. But nothing accomplished. I don't even have one book transferred. But I'll keep hammering away with the code number I do have. Maybe it'll slip through. |

I never got the first email, but I followed the link given here last week. I got the same response many others got about getting a code the week of the 19th. I just got the following email from B&N: Quote:

The URL that worked from the first email is very short and ends with email=myemailaddress. The URL from todays email that did not work is a lot longer. Perhaps you could try to copy and paste the URL in your browser and remove the part that follows after the first time your email address is mentioned.
