Rovio Flies Into Frankfurt To Unveil Its First Book App

Angry Birds has become such a mobile institution, and its maker, Rovio, has gone so far in its extension of that brand — toys, books, t-shirts, cereal, theme parks, films and more games – that this morning’s invitation to a launch of Rovio’s first ever book app came as something of a surprise. But it’s true: despite all the work Rovio (and others that Rovio seems to tolerate happily) has put into spinning out its wildly successful mobile game about catapulting birds onto structures made by pigs, the company has never produced an official book app.

That’s all changing come next week, when Rovio will unveil its first effort in the e-book app market. And it’s choosing one of the biggest events on the publishing world calendar — the Frankfurt Book Fair — to unveil it.

I don't believe I am overly sanctimonious and I even admit to being irreverent on occasion.
Still I do lay claim to a level of seriousness and a disdain for demeaning activities especially those that are a waste of time.

I do enjoy casino gaming, and with a certain acumen and a strong background in numbers, do as well as any occasional participant might, but I can say with pride that I do not play Angry Birds.

I feel that Frankfurt will be demeaned by Angry Birds presence.

Angry Birds is fun. My 5-year-old loves it. He's become the ladywife's go-to pig killer (quickly passing over me if he's available). Wonder if this book-app-thing will be any good.

What if the Big Six started massively discounting their frontlist titles, going for that volume instead of trying to bleed each reader for the most they could squeeze out of them? They’d be able to transition their businesses to e faster and make lots more money in the process — and also help to thwart piracy!

There is a penguin game or puzzle that is very clever. I don't remember the name.

I think it is too complex for most.
