Most books and newspapers may just be a sequence of lines, but magazines, comics, children's books, and textbooks generally have a fixed layout.

The Verge (via CNET) has some more interesting news about the new Kindle Fire. Apparently there will be two 7 inch models released next week, but no 10 inch model.

I'd only buy it if it has advantages in reading eBooks. That is almost my sole use of my present Kindle Fire with occasionally opening Androird Bibles.

I don't need Skype, a microphone or a tablet computer. My desktop does all of them better on a much bigger screen.

Amazon wants you in their cloud. The best way is to limit onboard storage.

I'm guessing the difference is two-fold: (1) 3G data plan capable/required and (2) 8 vs 16 GB storage options. Possibly they will offer a front-facing camera on one only, but I doubt that. I think they'll probably price out around $179 and $249.
