I did the same thing - haven't used kindle for PC for a few months and my old version refused to even start.

Thankfully it was mobileread and this thread to the rescue. I was forced to upgrade, but the tools still work perfectly.

I say that without a doubt that is one of the most useful ghost blogs that is available. Couldn't live without the tools updates.

How can I do a version check on the tools? I don't know if I need to upgrade or not.

If you're not sure, there's never any harm in downloading and installing the latest version.

Search for D?? in Preferences->Plugins.

I don't think so. Anyway, if you have a problem with the new tools, you can always reinstall the earlier version.

Another trick is to check your downloads folder in Windows (assuming you use Windows). If you haven't deleted it this will contain the original .zip file with the version number

Just did that and noticed that I had 4.8. Seems to be working fine though.

I thought I'd mention in the hopes that someone who can make things happen sees this, that iTunes cleansing would be a lovely addition to a future edition of the toolkit. The oft-recommended Requiem does not work for iTunes 10, and I'm sure I saw somewhere that they were ending PC support for that tool. I can't seem to find it now, but I'm sure I saw it a few months ago.

Thanks to all involved, my devices appreciate that I can feed them a variety of tasty titles. <3

I've had no problem with Requiem 3.3.5 and iTunes 10.6.1.7

Not so much it seems. Now I have a K4 with files kalled AZW3. There is nothing about support for those files in the Readme. Have I run into a wall?

AZW3 files are KF8 books. The "Tools" will handle them just fine, as will Calibre.

Not when I try. I noticed that it is one of the file formats in the conversion table. I was only trying to move it from a UK registered Kindle to a US registered.
