That's what I've done before and I decided this time I'm not going to fight it, I'm just going to go ahead and get one.

![]() As my eyes age, I find it much easier to have a light on the screen. However, I probably won't buy the lighted screen, because I recently bought the kindle touch, and one of the lighted covers. I find that they work great together. |

I will only upgrade provided they introduce some major improvements, and they just may, barring that though, I just might get myself another K3 (Keyboard) as a backup for the day my present one goes nuts. I assume battery will be the first thing to go, but that can be switched.

... and it's also missing another point. All evidence found so far in the firmware suggests that it will bring both a light and about 27% higher screen resolution.

I currently use a Kindle Keyboard that I got in June 2011. I might upgrade as I really like the idea of a built in light. The lighted Amazon cover is rather bulky.

If this is the case and it doesn't reduce contrast like the Nook Glow, then I will probably upgrade. If it adds a light, higher res, and buttons to the touch version, I'll without a doubt upgrade.

I'm not interested in a light or higher contrast screen. It'll take a lot more than that to make me want to upgrade. Even if it's lighter and longer battery life. The one I have is already a nice weight and lasts as long as I'd ever need.

Adding archived folders is something I want to see, but that's a firmware change that should apply to all kindles, not just new models. If it only applied to a new model that would put me off upgrading more than than sway me to. I'm sure there'll be a tipping point though where the incremental improvements become enough to sway me into an upgrade. Unless there's a new killer HW feature added. |

Option 3 for me. There has to be some other improvements in order to justify an upgrade. The light alone isn't reason enough, especially since I already own the Touch and the lighted cover.

There's not an option for "it depends on how well the lighting works." :-)

I had a kindle lighted case, but didn't like it because I didn't like the uneven illumination and thought that the bottom part of the screen was too dim. If the new kindle gives an effect close to my reading lamp, I would probably buy it. If it is significantly worse or degrades the reading experience in other ways, I probably won't get it. |

I'm satisfied with my K3. I like the eink screen and the fact that it's not backlit. Improvements I'd like to see include a better book management system (the 'collection' method sucks, frankly) and more horsepower in the CPU. A faster screen refresh would be nice too.

Lighted screen Collection and books in alphabetical order Smaller and/or lighter If not I may buy her a refurbished Sony 350 this year as the kindle 3 is somewhat difficult for her to use with arthritus on occasion. (her choice of course on which one she prefers to read on. Helen |
