Touch Kobo Touch Firmware 2.0

Thanks for all the info. I sync the KT to update my reading on my iPad everyday, the update only happened when I powered off and on again for the first time in a while.
Can anyone explain the short list showing random books?

when i try to sign out...it turns my device off and it restarts to the new device setup screen? is this how it correctly signs out or is this a software bug?

This is what it is supposed to do. The difference is that when you use this feature, you will not have to load your books again and you can leave the SD card in as it updates.

So it's been 3 weeks since the first release of 2.0 and the whole debacle that followed. Any guesses to when we'll see an update to fix the issues? I realize Kobo will keep this info to themselves for reasons we've mentioned before but that can't keep us from speculating. I'm figuring in the next week or so but that's just me being optimistic.

Isn't it already fixed? I had to factory reset my device this past week, and it updated to 2.0.

Ok yes I guess I should have been more clear. They did re-release 2.0 but there still have been issues with page turn speeds, shelves, etc. as mentioned here in this thread. I was thinking more in terms of the next firmware upgrade to 2.0.x.

If they keep to the current progression of release timing, it will be 5 months.

I have just been browsing Kobo's help pages to see if there is any news about this firmware "debacle" (as someone said, very good word).

I happened to follow the link to re-downloading Kobo's Desktop;

(this is also shown on their You Tube video for resetting your Touch.)

When I type in this address it takes me to "Kobo App for iPad and iPhone" ?

It doesn't matter whether you click on "PC & Mac" or "iPad & iPhone", on the left, you get the same page, "Kobo App for iPad and iPhone" ?

Am I going nuts or is this another Kobo Kock-up ?

I noticed that but if I went back to the Free Apps links and clicked on it and then selected Mac/PC, it went to www.kobobooks.com/desktop which worked. I'd say someone was not paying attention when they updated the web page.

I needed that link when I got a update needed loop on the desktop app on a Windows 7 x64 system. Uninstalling the Kobo app and then reinstalling seems to have fixed the update loop, at least, until the next update is released.

something weird has happened...i had to do a factory reset and now when i open my kepub for the game of thrones it no longer shows the correct % read. it's now showing 0% instead of 15%. it's at the right spot in the book (the bookmark synced correctly) but it's like it's now tracking it from the bookmark instead of the start of the book.

The bug is that if you embed a font and then try to activate it by placing the font-family in the body CSS style, it gets ignored and the embedded font doesn't display.

Well, you know, that's juste Kobo who decided not to take body styles into account (even margins and stuff as basic as that).

In other words, you must place the font-familly for each p and its classes. Same with line-height and stuff like that, you must place line-height for each p and its classes.

And so on and so forth. Take it as a given that anything inside body CSS Style won't be taken into account. It seems their devs haven't yet understood how CSS work. Great news, isn't it ?

I've got some books in my Kobo Library that are waiting to be downloaded but I don't dare yet. My Touch is working ok on the old firmware version and I want to keep it that way until Kobo sort things out.

Looks like Kobo needs to do some updating on their website AND You Tube !

Just a few comments on the cover bug in the 2.x.x firmware.

When I first updated to 2.0.2, I thought the bug was gone. Now what I'm seeing is the first time I open a book from the carousel or the library (directly or using search) and let the KT go to sleep, I get the previous book cover. For books selected from the carousel, subsequent sleep states show the correct book cover. For books selected from the library, subsequent sleep states show a text screen with the book title and the book type (e.g. Bahzell 04 - War Maid's Choice with a line underneath reading EPUB or Kobo EPUB). If I wake my KT up and then hit the home button, I see the current book in the largest carousel image with the text as shown on the sleep screen which promptly switches to the cover graphic. Selecting the book now gives the correct cover image as the sleep screen.

It appears that the attempt to speed things up by delaying reading cover graphics when a book is being processed needs a bit more work though it does save a good chunk of space on the on-board storage.

I'm also still seeing the need to delete a book from the KT using it's menus before I can edit the book and copy it back to the KT. Even the most minor change seems to trigger a reset when trying to open a book -- editing the book title to include a series name/number). A major change on one book (Jerome K. Jerome, Three Men on the Bummel) where I replaced the cover image, redid the chapter breaks, changed the image alignment and generated a TOC caused a crash where I had to do a restore to get my KT working again. Admittedly, I did this out of curiosity as to what a fairly major change in a book would do so was expecting a crash and burn but not the extent to which it happened.
