Hi, Betty. How is your mom doing?
I hope you had a great dinner, Charlie. ![]() Did you find a HD for your new toy, Stitchawl? ProfCrash, it sounds like everything is going well on your own. I am still looking forward to some adorable photos of Lucas.

It has something to do with the water... What happened on Thursday? Yes, thanks. About $25 USD down in the Electronics neighborhood of Osaka. Shop after shop, street after street, nothing but Computers, Stereos, TVs, etc., etc. It's a USB DVD writer, and right now it's humming away beside me as I install Windows7 Ultimate into my new netbook. I was gonna wimp out and just install WinXP, as I know all about that OS, but I figured I might as well take a chance and go the whole way. The worst that could happen is that I turn the computer into a lovely paperweight... It took me two reboots before I remembered to go into the BIOS and change the Boot Priority, but then everything seemed to go smoothly. For some reason it wouldn't let me wipe out the partition with the old OS, but after I install the new one I'll run a partition mgr, and get rid of that. I have no need to have two OS's in the one machine, especially as the only difference is the language. Stitchawl |

You've just given me food for thought. Has my Widows 7 install left behind the old Vista OS files, as these installs are sometimes wont to do? I freed up a lot of space on one of the kid's laptops recently when I found this had happened.
Not sure where these redundant files might be though...still looking. Water and cherries for lunch, supplemented with a few pistachios. |

I went back in with the partition manager and blocked off a C and D drive. The C drive on my main desktop machine only uses 40G as I store no data files there, only program files. I made the notebook's C drive 50G even though I'll be putting in far fewer applications. That will give me more room to use the D drive as temporary memory for Photoshop should I need it. I really am amazed at how quickly Windows7 loaded compared with WinXP, and how much more smoothly with far fewer user inputs. I think I had to respond to one request, and that was it. And the Easy File Transfer program will do exactly what I used to do by hand to re-configure all my apps to my preferences... Again, with no needed user intervention. Plug it in and sit back while it happens. I'm impressed so far. Now all I have to do is figure out how to use the OS to make it do what I want it to do, rather than what I tell it to do...
For that, I'll need a glass of rum! Stitchawl |

I think you'll like Win7 a lot, Stitchawl. To my mind, it's the best client OS Microsoft has ever released, even better than XP, and that's saying a fair amount. I wish I felt the same about Win8, but I'll learn to live with it I'm sure.
Really good pizza last night - there's a great place in Bellevue that I like to go to when I'm here. Very much NY style, but way better than 98% of NY pizza. Right now, a bottle of "Naked" Orange Juice. It's pasteurized , but otherwise real OJ. Best I can do until I get home. Next up, a mug of Peet's Anniversary Breakfast Blend.

Today, while the blossoms still cling to the vineIll taste your strawberries, Ill drink your sweet wine A million tomorrows shall all pass away Ere I forget all the joy that is mine, Today ![]() ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L42KpNhFLS4 ) Good morning, all! Happy Friday (for the second time this week) Rainy day, a visit to the dentist, and paying bills... what could be more appropriate for a Friday? But at least it starts off well, with a hearty English Breakfast tea from Taylors of Harrogate and a bowl of Bibimba, with bulgogi left over from last night's dinner, and a side of kimchee. That will get the juices flowing! Stitchawl |

The beach sounds great.
Heck the grocery store sounds great.... It is another 17 days before I can lift Lucas in his car seat, Doctors orders. This means no going out of the house without someone who can carry Lucas. Thank god my MIL comes on Monday. Having to stay home is driving me nuts. The fact that it is insanely hot and humid out means limited walking capability. I'll try and post pictures tomorrow. |

Are you still caring for your mom?
Lucas is not a big fan of the nap. He is not fussy. He is happy siting on my lap or snuggled.he is responding to rattles and some toys. But he only takes two naps a day. And he just closed his eyes snuggled I my arm. I love the little guy. I can't get to my mug of tea safely but that is ok. |

More naps would be good. Especially ones where you can still reach your tea.
![]() Meanwhile: On the Road Again. Or if you prefer, the Willie Nelson version. Peet's Anniversary Breakfast Blend. |

![]() Yes, I'm still with Mom. We have settled into a routine so it's not too bad. She won't be able to live on her own again. This works for now, and we'll reevaluate as her condition changes. |
