It may be badly written, but there's nothing dangerous about it. It's fantasy, and doesn't have much to do with what people would do in reality.

You have to understand it's like a train wreck. It's so horrible but you can't stop reading for some reason. You keep holding out that something is going to happen and they wise up but they never do. The first book is just horrible. It ends though on a big cliff hanger and the so call real relationship doesn't start till the second book. The second book is the best out of the three. You hit the third book and the story loses steam. There is no plot anymore and no more mystery and the writer begins to write whatever is off the top of her head. At that time you just want it to end. I read it to see what the hype was all about and you see I read romances where the hero and heroine always get their happy ending. So I had to keep reading to see if there was a HEA and resolution for these two idiots so yes I read all three. |

Yeah. I'm not read that. Ever. I remember listening to a book on audio called "Sweet Anger" and written by Sandra Brown, I believe. I got it on CD from the public library way back when and I seriously about chucked my CD player out the window. I mostly forget any bad or mediocre books but that one stands out in my mind. Not that it is anything much like "50 Shades," being, I believe (didn't get far), more romance than erotica but so, so bad. Anyway, I understand how you feel.

I know what you mean, I used to watch Days of Our Lives and when I realized it was never really going to get above cheesy, despite the occasional glimmer of something interesting, I forced myself to stop.

I had to quit watching All My Children (in the 90's) b/c I got tired of characters acting out of character.

I think you are onto something. 50 Shades is the perfect book for people who love daytime soaps.
