@Alb: No, there's a slightly shaky alt fonts implementation since FW 5.1.0, check the latest few pages of the Font Hack thread, in particular posts from eureka, if I remember correctly . |

@Eureka: You are right. I'll try to explain: I installed correctly the jailbreak (for 5.1.0 version), and then I also installed the Hackfont, but the Hackfont doesn't run. I told this to Geekmaster: Quote:
That is the reason why I´m here trying to do something. @NiLuJe: I´m reading now the latest few pages of the Font Hack thread. In particular posts from eureka. Thanks.

@eureka: Yeah, never really thought about it, but I've always (quite possibly erroneously) assumed using a mounted part (even ro) as an input for dd was a bad idea . @Alb: The jailbreak and the *kindlet* jailbreak are two *different* things. You'll need both to run ixtab's Font Hack, and you need a jailbroken device to install the Kindlet jailbreak. Check ixtab's doc again . If you did install *both*, then, yeah, it's probably because something changed in 5.1.1. The good news seems to be that the jailbreak installed successfully, using the same method as for 5.1.0. You did end up with the 'You are jailbroken' book, yes? Last edited by NiLuJe; 06-26-2012 at 04:44 PM. |

That not only dumps UNMOUNTED partitions, but also UNMODIFIED partitions. The only changes are to /mnt/us and /var/local (where the payload goes). I want UNMODIFIED partition images. SSH requires CHANGES to main and/or diags before it can even RUN... Remember that it has to delete RUNME.done exactly ONE time, so it can run again after rebooting to main... I have already written a version of this script a couple of months ago, but I do not have it with me... It might even be posted somewhere, but the MR search engine isn't finding it for me. It must be buried somewhere in my thousands of posts and PMs, but good luck finding it... Last edited by geekmaster; 06-26-2012 at 04:44 PM.

I have read several posts about Hackfont written by Eureka and, If I have understand right there's an other method or process to install the fonts in the KT. I tried that (with the route mnt/us/fonts and then the fonts like: Bodoni Regular.ttf, Bodoni Italic.ttf and so on, and so on), I rebooted the KT but I didn´t have any result. I've tried with Calibre's setting too: unseccessfully. 5.1.1 (I hate this firmware). Last edited by Alb; 06-26-2012 at 05:10 PM.

@Alb: Okay, then I'm assuming FW 5.1.1 broke ixtab's Kindlet jailbreak (or something Kindlet related). It's not my area of expertise at all, but it'll probably require a FW dump to 'fix' . As for the alt fonts on the KT, I haven't tried it, but eureka's posts are sound, so unless they *also* changed stuff for this, it should work. It might need a bit of tinkering, and it's certainly not very user-friendly, but in theory it should work . |

I had Amazon CS call me yesterday to fix a TTS error (it wasn't working, turns out the TTS file was missing, they emailed me one and now it's awesome.) Before we discovered that was the problem, he mentioned that 5.1.1 was the newest software available but it isn't on their website. He double checked when I told him, and said something about "they must not have released it here yet". So there IS going to be 5.1.1 at some point soon ETA - I'm in the UK
