I doubt it - not by the typical end-user. The only book-reader I'm aware of which allows users to install their own applications is the iLiad; the others are "closed" systems with no facilities for installing user applications.

I would imagine that would be the case, yes. Of course I could be wrong, but I doubt it. All you can upload on most devices are data files - books, pictures, MP3 files, etc. The UI of the device does not permit you to run programs other than those pre-installed on the machine.

BTW, that site sounds really interesting about all those various products... :-) Hope Mentor's 6" price will stay around that price for when it'll be launched in august... better if it'll be precisely EUR 200,00 or less for the 6" one without all those whistles and bells...just it can reads PDFs in a good way... :-)

No device with a 6" screen is going to read PDFs well, and that's due to the fundamental limitations of the PDF format, not the device. PDF was not designed to be an e-book format, and is a very poor choice for an eBook format. Virtually any other format is preferable!

Its great that they are working out the flaws on all devices. Robert has been very open in the matters here. I am waiting, to see what the final verdicts are before I make a decision. It is a good idea for Astak to hold off until November for the 9.7". It gives them time to work out any bugs on the device it gets them ready for a release just prior to the holidays. In any case, the devices seem to cover a broad spectrum. |

. They are limited by when PVI start manufacturing 9.7" screens - that's what's been pushed back.
