This book appeared in my library this morning. I haven't paid for it and it appears to be the full book not just a preview.

Are kobo giving books away, and, more importantly, is it a decent book?

I don't think it would be a gifted book. My wife got one once from her mother and it was sent as an email notification to log into her account to get it.

Some time ago I had three books show up that I had not purchased. They were books from some promotion offered to new customers. They were romance novels, not usually my cup of tea. They appeared in "I'm Reading" but not in "purchased".

I notice you have an android phone, have you recently added the kobo app to it

when I installed the kobo app on my android phone i got a free book, not this one, but it is one that costs money, not a freebie

It's in my I'm reading list but definitely not in Purchased. I guess I just got lucky.

I do have an android phone but it's had the kobo app on it for ages so I don't think it would have anything to do with that.

I hope I haven't got something meant for someone else, although I don't see how that could happen.

I'll have a read when I've finished my current book (1Q84 - which is going to take a while, not as good as I thought it would be based on the reviews but an ok read.
