I saw the air. We are under an ORANGE ozone alert again today. Remember the heat and rain I've been complaining about? So, last week, the annual drought began and now the air is dirty orange colored. We have the same setup as Los Angeles - a big valley with no breezes. Not even a tiny puff. It only takes a few days in summer without rain to be able to see the air, even though there is not any oxygen left in it. Husband let me out at the door after lunch, and in the 15 steps it took to get inside, I was wheezing from lack of oxygen. Nothing is ever normal in B'ham. |

I suppose I should just count my blessings ... the air may be stiffling, but at least it's colorless.

Connecticut. Driving around looking for those steamed burgers, the deer and woodchuck were everywhere. Well, not everywhere, just the wheres where my car would be when it and they were both where, there.

I just stood there for what seemed like forever, just crying over that deer. I know there wasn't anything I could have done, but it tore my heart out to see that beautiful animal die. Oh, and yes, most of the front of the car was mashed up ... but again, that's just "stuff." Stuff gets damaged, you fix the stuff. Can't "fix" a dead deer.

I know this is crass, but I also know we're twins, so you'll see the humor in How to Fix a Dead Deer.

Tee hee. Actually, you know what is really sad ... in a "what a waste" sort of way?? It is illegal to actually DO anything with the deer once you have obliterated it with your automobile. So, in Texas anyway, you really can't "fix" a dead deer you hit with a car. Of course, there was this one guy (I think it was here in Texas) who was arrested for having sex with a dead deer. No, I'm not kidding. Sometimes I think moving to Texas was some sort of karmic joke I decided to play on myself. Eeeehoooolaaaaa. |
