Wrong. Your condescension was out of line, whereas my question was on topic and legitimate.

After seeing an iPad 3 next to an iPad 2 in a local store, I'll definitely be getting an iPad 3. The retina screen makes text so readable next to an iPad 2. I've promised myself that I'll buy one after I've cycled 800 miles on my exercise bike. Gotta have some incentive. |

Apple isn't betting the future on iPad so much as it is on iOS. Until 2001 Apple as known as a computer company. By 2006 it had become the iPod/iTunes company that also made computers. Now Apple is pretty much the iOS company that sells iPods and oh yeah, some computers. I would say that iOS is to Apple as Windows is to Microsoft-its the core of the company ( no pun intended) . Apple's future is tied up with the success of the iOS platform and the associated devices. While the iPhone and the iPad are key right now, the future may belong to Apple TV. While I doubt we'll see an apple TV SET, I think we will see a big move to Apple bringing the Ios experience to our current TV sets, with Apple TV as the spearhead . The next year will see Apple make major moves towards that, IMO. Last edited by stonetools; 03-24-2012 at 09:16 PM. |

Thanks, everyone, for your feedback about your time with the iPad3. It's always good to hear from users as opposed to people with preconceptions about a device they haven't actually used. I think I'm going to wait to see whether Apple finds a way to improve the iPad3's reception, and also whether the Sandy Bridge iteration of the MBP will have a retina screen as well. If so (and we'll probably know by June), I might spring for the laptop as opposed to the tablet. If the improvement comes in the form of something other than a software update, then I think it might be worth my while to wait to make a purchase rather than go through extra trouble simply because a product that has my attention happens to be too new. |

If some people have a wifi problem and some don't, then the software might not be the one responsible. I quoted an article in post #374 that listed the components and also said: Quote:
