I can surf to the Memorial Library section of this forum from my iPad, open a thread with a link to a compatible book file, touch that link, and the iPad will ask me if I want to open that file in iBooks. If I touch yes, it opens the book and adds it to my library on the iPad. No iTunes required. How difficult was that? |

When we inquired as to why we were told that the store was going to go to a single register that accepted cash per department. The rest of the sales/payments would be done by mobile sales people with iPads and fingertip scanners. It was rather quick and seamless, no standing in line. My only concern is that they didn't put screen protectors/cases on the iPads. I'm sure they'll be a flurry of broken iPads soon enough. Last edited by MrsJoseph; 03-20-2012 at 11:33 AM. For me, the iPad is an expensive toy. Why? That's my use case. I use my iPad primarily for entertainment. First and foremost, for me, it's a comic reader. A really nice comic reader but it's something I can live without. Someone else might use the iPad as their primary computing platform and for them, it's considered essential. Again, these are just individual opinions and would differ based on the utility/value that individuals perceive to get from the device. Different strokes for different folks. There's no right or wrong answer. One thing I do find interesting, it's only people who don't buy something who call it overpriced (regardless of whether they consider it a toy or not). Most just call it pricey or expensive but not overpriced.

I was reading some magazines last night on it, wow. I need to download my comics from dc, marvel & dark horse & see how they look.

Really, really nice (at least the Comixology and Dark Horse stuff). I find the text in speech bubbles in American comic books to be barely legible on the iPad 2 in fullscreen view. With the new iPad, text is just so clear. Heck, now I can even view comics in landscape/double page mode and I can still read the text. For me, it's really a worthwhile upgrade over the iPad 2.

And the whole thing of walking around the grocery store with my own bags and a freaking scanner drives me INSANE. Here I am, looking like booby the fool, juggling a shopping list and a hand held scanner. AND for extra credit I get to bag my own stuff??! (and still no discounts) Pfft! Pffffffft I say! /rant.
