Sillis that market is growing faster faster faster! because massive amounts of cheap products are dumped into market. People have not stopped bying ipad though.

Compare models please and inform us which 1's outsale the ipad now?

It looks like the firms that provide the data specify in the title if the numbers are only for the US, so this should be worldwide.

Says that there were ~120 million in total of desktops, laptops, netbooks and tablets sold in 2011 Q4, and Apple sold 15 million iPad in that quarter, so that puts them at 12.5% just on iPads, not the whole of iOS.

I don't know where they got the 120 million number from, but Apple's press release for Q4 2011 states that they sold 11.12 million iPads that quarter, so the report that you linked to is clearly false.

I haven't said or even implied that people stopped buying iPads, and the market isn't taken over by cheap products. The Fire and the NOOK are cheaper than the iPads mainly because they are half the size.

That's the point. While android, Linux & windows will be on hundreds of devices, iOS will be on a handful (about 10 products maybe). This won't stop them from selling about 15 million iPads in 1 quarter. Apple has always been in the smaller market share numbers. Tablet market share right now is there's. I don't think that can be disputed.

iPhone runs (and reports to websites) iOS as well. Which is interesting because I get many of the iPad benefits but with a smaller screen.

Market share is not good measure. Neither out sell ipad but counted togather they can it look like marketshare and thus popularity for iPad is collapsing.

Mac OS grow a lot in last decade more than dell or hp but macos marketshare stayed same.

Kindle Fire and Nook Color/Tablet are only on sale in the US, so it seems unlikely that they would have 16% global tablet market share? If they do, that is really impressive.

I'm not sure this is a very sensible way to determine "operating system share". There are an awful lot of Android and iOS Smartphones out there, but I very much doubt that many people use a Smartphone as a replacement for a PC, whereas there probably are people who use a tablet as a PC replacement.

The tablet market is not that big. If 11.12 million iPads make 58% of market share, 16% is only 3 million.

Because the very first thing I consider when buying a tablet is its operating system. After that, the model. With iOS, you only have one choice. With Android, you have a ton of choices.
