Would you agree with the statement that the Jetbook has a 'newspaper-grey' background? Many seem to compare the Jetbook's colors to that of a (recycled) newspaper. |

For me it seems like light brown, but it depends from the light source. In my case I used a "standard" (what does "standard" mean?) gas lamp of 20w and 2700K. Probably with a led lamp the background would be gray.
But it is not the gray of SiPix, it is something different. Answering your question: I think so, it could be similar 'newspaper-grey' background. Similar but different also and light dependent. Also the black is as strong as eink-pearl and so the triton display seems to me to have more contrast than eink first version even with a background less white (I would like to know what Andrew think of it). Next time I would like to take some photo using sunlight in different hours (morning, evening, sunset) and in different angolation (direct/inderect lights). I had your same problem. I evaluated "Leggo IBS" 9.68' (that is an PB912) with a resolution of 1200x825 and first eink version. Then I thought Onyx M92 was a better choice because of the superior screen (in terms of resolution and eink technology).
When I discovered Jetbook Color I took the chance to use a color, big and high resolution EDP. The major problem with JBC now is the firmware: if you belive ectaco will do a good job with next realese (schedule on 7h March as they promised ), JBC is (according to me) a very good choice to study technical PDF. JBC have a noticeable hardware and a pontetial not used at the present moment. Otherwise and if colors aren't important for you and in your readings, M92 is probably better (also because of its minor weight). In my case some Graph would be near impossible to read in B/W and with only 16 gray levels. So I'd change my JBC for nothing EDIT: LuBiB says he had received the update for his JBC. I'm waiting from mine Last edited by mod186k1; 03-02-2012 at 09:40 AM. |

Yeah, the jetbook has the largest resolution of all e-ink devices, including the kindle DX.
The fastest processor too, I believe; comparable to many Android cellphones of nowadays. |
