Can I download a kindle book to pc to non kindle-> non wifi ereader

Hi, I am new to this forum, and never have downloaded a Kindle book. Is it possible to download a book offered via Kindle to my pc which I could then transfer onto my Eco-Reader? I have an e-book reader, Eco-Reader, which allows me to read Epub formats, pdf, word documents and many other formats. Yet it is a simple reader, doesn't connect on to the internet or anything. It's just a device I connect to my PC and download the pdf file or other file I need onto my reader. My understanding has always been that I couldn't download a Kindle book because I can't download it to my Eco Reader, that it is somehow locked into the Kindle/Amazon system. . It does not have Wifi. and I do not ever read a book on my pc, that's why I got myself an ereader in the first place. I find it all very confusing to be honest. Do I have to have a Kindle to be able to download Kindle books? Thanks for any info which can help me better understand. Hanneke ~ Australia. |

You'd want to install Kindle 4PC to be able to buy books. Once you have the books they'd need to have their DRM removed (for the ones that are DRM'd) before they'd work. IIRC the Eco-Reader does read Mobi format, but I don't know how good of a job it does so you may or may not decide to convert the Mobi files to ePub files.

Thank you everyone for your responses. To Dr. Drib, I Introduced myself in this section after having browsed through the forum and not being able to locate a thread I thought relevant to my question. I have downloaded the program Kindle 4 PC... the book I am interested in will become available on March 1. I will be patient until then, purchase and download and just try it. If it doesn't work to change format to transfer onto my Eco Reader I guess I will lose that money but at least I will know if it can be done or not. Thanks everyone Hanneke |
