Puckee -- an all around useful ford for interrelated stuff. "When did all that puckee about thongs and flipflops become such a volumptuous topic?" |

heh... a friend of mine had a "thong party" once ; you had to wear thongs (on your feet ; the "other kind" of thong is called a "string" in french). i mentioned this to an anglophone friend and she nearly fell out of her chair : "what ?? is he planning to check ???" after a moment of confusion we straightened things out. then she burst out laughing : "i just got a mental image of someone wearing a thong [shoe] inappropriately." ever since then i can't hear the word "thong" with a straight face. |

I like to grill, and one of the grilling implements I use is a pair of tongs. My son always calls them "thongs" - I think on purpose. I suffer from mild/moderate aphasia (the inability to vocalize a word, in my case, even though I can think the word). I once famously (in my circle of friends) asked someone to hand me "the, the, the... you know, those... the Meat Tweezers". |

Anyone up for a string party? The theoretical physicists among you are, of course, all welcome but please leave your physics at home.
