Today I encountered "temerity" while reading and paused to appreciate it. Temerity. A fine word.

Well. Opening the door to uselessness lets the beneficent side of chaos to step in and lead us onward on unexpected paths. Not only we might thus be exposed to creativity but we might also look back upon our usual life, dominated as it is by the urge of immediate advantages, with detachment and critical eyes.

Good. It is a good sign. Do not worry. My claim was written with a slightly provocative intent. I reread my post and to me it keeps making sense. The idea is that if you just follow the shortest path toward your objective that is exactly what you get: your objective (if you succeed). On the other end, if you let a bit of randomness in, you might make interesting experiences, and may be find out that your objective is not so important after all. Like when you get off the metro one station too early and have to walk in a unfamiliar place. You get into a bar to ask for directions and by pure chance you meet the love of your life. |
