Sorting different between Calibre and Device

When I sort by author in the library side of Calibre, Daphne du Maurier is sorted in the Ds where it should be. When I have my Sony PRS-350 connected and sort by author on the device side, Daphne du Maurier is after Z at the end of the list.

Do I have some setting screwed up somewhere that's causing this or is it a sort issue within Calibre?

Edit: I figured out how to trick it into sorting to the Ds by changing the metadata Author Sort box to Du Maurier, Daphne. It seems the lower case d is what throws it off. I tried duMaurier and it still sorted it after Z with a lower case d there. I'm starting to think it's more of a Sony sorting issue though, and not much Calibre can do but trick it into the correct sort order as I did.

Must be using a pure ASCII sort

(the byte weight of the character)
lowercase sorts after uppercase

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, Ripplinger & theducks. This has been driving me quietly batty for L. Sprague deCamp on my Kindle for quite some time. Such a simple solution.

I guess it's not just Sony then with that sorting issue if Kindle is sorting the same way. I'm glad I found a workaround at least as it's clearly not a Calibre issue at all as I first thought.
