It shows it's left Chicago...heading south on the same road it arrived there. I might get my package by tomorrow. The ways of UPS are mysterious.

Those who got theirs already. Does it not come pre-charged like the Kindles?

It comes partially charged--like the Kindles.

I only had to charge mine just under 2 hours to get it to fully charged.

Yesterday Amazon sent my delivery notice to a UPS office 1,000 miles from where I live. However, the UPS truck started today with my Fire from just 2 miles away from my location.

Evidently, the notice goes to the nearest UPS office to Amazon management but the item is picked up from the Amazon warehouse closest to the customer.

That is why Amazon Prime can guarantee 2 day delivery to all customers and then actually deliver in one day. That also means paying extra for next day service is a total waste of money.

Okay good. See I don't charge mine till it says it's low so it will calibrate correctly. I do this for the first 3 charges then every so often afterward.

Ahhhh. I've done that with some of my electronics.

With the Fire, they seem pretty insistent that you fully charge it before you apply the update. But I had already connected mine to the wireless at work, so it ended up updating while it was charging. Doesn't seem to have hurt it though...

OMG-my delivery date just changed to the 16th. So I get one-day shipping, even though I just went with the old Prime 2-day. As a matter of fact, I rarely pay for 1-day delivery anymore - it usually comes the next day, anyway.

For all of you who will be enjoying your 30-day trial of Prime - for less than $7/month, you get free shipping on just about everything, book lending, and Amazon prime videos. I hate to pay shipping, so I would always use the $25/free shipping, but that took forever - sometimes it would be a week before something shipped. I'm hoping Prime Videos work flawlessly.
