Er, the Gen3 runs Linux, just like the iLiad does. Perhaps you were getting confused with the original CyBook? That did indeed run WinCE v3.

You CAN'T photoshop black into silver

(well, actually, you can, but you'd basically have to redraw the whole thing by hand)

Of course you can do that, and you don't have to redraw it ^^

Anyway, I really prefer the black one. Does the silver one have the soft touch, too, or is it just plain plastic ?

(NO, I'm NOT trying to convince myself the black one is better, not at all ^^ Actually, I'm just a bit pissed off, as I can't make wifi work on my iLiad, so ATM, it's just plain Book Edition without the books and with 100$ more)

I guess I'm not making friends with the sellers here, but usually you have a 30 day money back guarantee on internet purchases, so you might want to activate that to get a book edition... You got at least 7 days, if you were explicitly told you only have 7 days.. I dunno, if its worth the hassle for you, its worth a try.

I received one today, but it will probably go back. The silver does not have the soft touch. It is just hard plastic, not real shiny, but not a completely dull color either. It doesn't feel as nice in the hand as the soft touch version does.

Also, the fullscreen ipdf doesn't seem to want to work on it. I've installed shell access, but I can't seem to get any of the replacement ipdf's to work. Everything appears to be standard 2.12 software, even the wireless settings are there in the setup screens. The buttons also seem much harder to press with a more definitive click to them.

LOL. Don't worry, I'm totally in love with my iLiad v2, and I'm certainly not exchanging it. And wifi works at my parents', it's just that Linksys WAG routers obviously don't like it.
And BTW, I don't think I would have wanted if it was silver It's too girly !

Yeah, my wife tells me I have a problem. I tell her now that we have kids I've pretty much given up all hobbies except reading so if former "greens fees" now go to my gadget fetish on occasion we are still coming out ahead overall.

auch, you´re right. I confused cybook with the astak mentor. With cybook it was the missing wifi.

Yeah, I know this website already.
I'm sure 10 years ago, nobody would have imagined to have colored laptops, laptops with images of flowers, ocean, etc. Yet...
In 10 years, iLiad will come in custom colors, etc. etc.

For the moment, black is THE cool color

Looks like we have similar hobbies. I gave up flying when my wife was pregnant with our first daughter and golf pretty much went when number 3 came along! Oh well, with 3 daughters I'm the king of the house and wouldn't trade it for anything else!
