To me one of the biggest selling point for Kindle is that you can use it as a complete computer tether free device not only for buying books, but also side loading books and borrowing books from library, where with a Nook one must connect the computer to the ereader. Format is a non-issue for book reading unless you've invested heavily on DRMed books to a particular format. Otherwise you can do a one-time batch convert from one format to another using some of the excellent free tools such as Calibre. With DRMed books, people will have to strip that out first of course... | |

I have the Kindle w/special offers and it really doesn't bother me. I thought it would, but if it's a choice between strangely drawn dead authors and ads I'll choose ads. (Until someone comes out with a hack I can understand to load my own screen savers)

I love my nook color, I really do. That being sais I have been wanting an e-ink devicce for the b distraction free environment. However I have about $200 invested in various nook books but I think I want a Kindle. Reason being that I just want to try it out and see what the kindle experience is like. I rooted my Nook Color and I have the Kindle app on it and on my desktop pc. I think I prefer it ti the BN app because it reminds me of Stanza and it can do a sepia mode which is very easy on my eyes. I do know that I will also be buying the next gen nc because well it has bettervspecs than my nc abd i love my nc. Out of curiosity what other good ereaders are available which are e-ink based at a price point of around $150.00? |
