I pre-order occasionally. But only for items that I would tend to forget about otherwise. Plus, sometimes, I just like being surprised by the delivery of an ebook that I'd completely forgotten I ordered. It's like finding a ten-dollar bill in a jacket you haven't worn for quite a while.

If I were to pre-order ebooks, the upcoming Jeffrey Eugenides book would be one to add to my list. I think he's fantastic.

No, agency books would not fluctuate in price, before or after the pub date. But there are sometimes deals on and even freebie ebooks during the pre-order period. I've seen them on the Deals board. I suspect the freebies are sometimes in error: they put the book into inventory without a price, so it shows up free, and then they price it later on.

Love pre ordering ebooks on the kindle. It like magic when they appear on the screen when I least expect it. Sometimes I buy something for my wife. She is always well pleased when something just arrives. The cool thing is it is all on her credit card. Just received the new Jeffrey Eugenides book that I had on pre order. |

I preordered Brandon Sanderson's The Alloy of Law. I loved the Mistborn series. Can't wait!

I never pre-order ebooks. I have pre-ordered hardcovers in the past and will only pre-order a hardcover book that I will know I want. I have nothing on pre-order right now.

Maybe the ones not preordering books have the right idea after all... it's a little bit like this:

http://xkcd.com/281/ *refresh* Aww, still on preorder. I live in the wrong time zone obviously. In Germany I'm one and a half hours into the 25th which is supposedly the release date of the book I preordered (given on German Amazon no less) but apparently I have to wait until it's the 25th everywhere else too and then I have to hope they release in the mornings there instead of the evenings since otherwise it'll be the 26th by the time I can actually start reading it... It doesn't help that the book apparently leaked weeks ago. Dunno how that works really - what's the point in DRM if the pirates already have copies BEFORE anyone else has even a chance to actually buy the book in order to pirate it? |

Hmmmm, that's the day I was born. Somehow I have a feeling it's not about me since I was upstaged when I was just a few hours old.

![]() I don't usually pre-order books unless they are free. I do have Elder Scrolls Skyrim and Zelda Skyward Sword both ordered and paid for. |

I preordered I Am Half Sick of Shadows, the new Flavia de Luce mystery. It should be arriving on my eBook reader in six hours or so.

I don't usually do preOrders though. There's always a delay in downloading a popular new book. |
